Björn’s Colorado Honey partnered with Denver-based design firm, Neoera, to bring the beloved local brand to Denver International Airport, marking Björn’s first long-term lease in an airport environment and its debut on an international stage. Known across Colorado for its great-tasting, distinctive honey products and commitment to sustainability, Björn’s also used the DEN location to introduce a new offering: honey-infused coffee and tea beverages. Neoera’s design approach focused on translating the brand’s authenticity and warmth into a compact, high-traffic airport setting without compromising experience or identity. Rooted in Björn’s Scandinavian heritage, the design honors founder Pontus’s grandfather, Björn, who began the family’s beekeeping tradition in Sweden. Neoera interpreted this lineage through a clean, minimalist aesthetic grounded in natural materials. Warm wood tones are used throughout the space, from the flooring and storefront wrap to the wall-mounted shelving, creating a welcoming environment that contrasts with the surrounding concourse while remaining visually calm and timeless. A bold yellow feature wall at the rear of the store serves as both a visual landmark and a brand signature, helping draw travelers into the space. Custom black botanical illustrations overlay the wall, reinforcing Björn’s connection to nature and pollination. At the coffee bar, Neoera specified a charcoal-colored counter wrap to balance the warmth of the wood with the vibrancy of the yellow accents. The material, composed of 100% post-consumer recycled cardboard and eco-resin, reflects both Björn’s and Neoera’s shared commitment to sustainable design. The project presented significant challenges that required Neoera’s strategic planning and technical expertise. Previously occupied by a nail salon and later by a Coors retail pop-up, the premises had plumbing limited to a single rear sink. Incorporating a fully compliant coffee bar required extensive new plumbing infrastructure, including multiple sinks, water lines, a mop sink, and a dishwasher, all within a highly constrained footprint. Neoera carefully coordinated layout, equipment placement, and back-of-house functions to efficiently integrate both retail merchandising and beverage service within the compact plan, while remaining mindful of budget limitations. Despite restrictive existing conditions and a compressed timeline, Neoera successfully maintained the integrity of Björn’s brand and customer experience. Close collaboration with Denver International Airport project managers allowed Neoera to fast-track permitting through a single 100% construction document review, while ongoing coordination with the general contractor streamlined construction. As a result, the store opened two months ahead of schedule. In recognition of Neoera’s accelerated delivery and coordination efforts, DEN waived the store’s first-year rent.
