Neoera’s Annual Reflection and 2026 Focus

If you’re a homeowner or a business owner thinking about hiring an architect, chances are you’re feeling a mix of excitement and overwhelm. Big projects come with big decisions, real financial investment, and the pressure to get it right. I know this – not just as an architect, but as someone who has walked clients through this process for over a decade.
At the end of the day, most clients aren’t just looking for drawings. They’re looking for clarity, alignment, and a team they can trust.
That belief shaped much of how I approached 2025 at Neoera Architecture and Design.

Rather than setting traditional New Year’s resolutions, back in December of 2024 a friend suggested choosing one word to define the year ahead. Her suggestion came from the book One Word That Will Change Your Life by Jon Gordon.
I didn’t hesitate. My word for 2025 was Abundance.
I wanted to move away from a mindset of lack – scarcity of time, money, or certainty – and instead focus on possibility. And while it felt a little awkward at first (I’ve never been much of a journaler), I committed to a simple morning practice of writing about what I was grateful for and where abundance already existed in my life.
Within 24 hours of that first journal entry, unexpected things started happening. A former client reached out about working together again. A stranger bought me a coffee, just because. And my child, who had been struggling with something for a while, found an awesome solution on her own.
These moments reminded me that mindset isn’t abstract – it shows up in real, tangible ways. And that same mindset carries directly into how we approach our work with clients.
2025 wasn’t perfect. Serious health challenges among friends and family tested my abundance mindset more than once, and the broader political climate raised difficult questions about equity, gratitude, and what abundance truly means.

Still, the year reinforced something I see again and again in practice: when we intentionally choose a mindset and show up consistently, even when things feel hard, it shapes outcomes. Where our energy goes is where our energy flows.
For our clients, this means we approach projects from a place of possibility rather than fear. Instead of focusing solely on constraints, we help identify opportunities – within budgets, schedules, and real-world limitations – to create spaces that truly support how people live and work.
On the company front, 2025 was a year of abundance for Neoera:
Alongside all of this, I’m deeply grateful for my fellow Neoera colleagues Kelsey Matteson and Paul Hermann, whose consistency, creativity, responsiveness, and empathy show up in every project they touch.
As we head into our 12th year in business, my word for 2026 is focus.
From a client perspective, focus matters. It means taking the time upfront to truly understand your goals before design begins. It means clear processes that reduce decision fatigue. And it means carrying a project all the way from early strategy through final delivery – so you’re not left coordinating consultants, vendors, and loose ends on your own.

We do our best work when we’re trusted by our clients to take a project from start to finish.
Concept to Iconic. Thoughtfully imagined. Impeccably realized.
The way we describe our most comprehensive service is simple: Concept to Iconic — Thoughtfully imagined. Impeccably realized. We have a three step process which describes our turnkey design service. Step 1: Vision > Step 2: Design > Step 3: Curation.
1. Visioning
Visioning is the foundation of everything we do. Whether we’re working with a homeowner or an organization, this phase helps clarify who you are, who you want to be, and how your environment can support that future.
Through a guided, collaborative process, we uncover shared values, culture, operational goals, and aspirations, and translate those into a clear, documented vision. This becomes the framework for all programming and design decisions, ensuring alignment from day one.
2. Design (Exterior & Interior)
We design both commercial and residential environments, and we do our best work when we can design the entire structure, exterior and interior together.
Our services include programming, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding and negotiation, and construction administration. This allows clients to move forward with confidence, knowing the details are being thoughtfully managed.
3. Curation
Curation is the step that often gets overlooked, usually because of budget constraints or decision fatigue, but it’s the phase that truly completes a space.
In this phase, we plan, procure, and install furnishings, art, and accessories that bring the design vision fully to life. This is often what distinguishes a good project from a great one.
What’s Your Word?
Whether you’re embarking on a home renovation, a new build, or a workplace transformation, I encourage you to think about your own word for the year ahead.
Whatever it is, focus on it. Talk about it. Practice it daily. Momentum builds, and results follow.
And if your word happens to be clarity, trust, or confidence, we’d love to help.
